How are you all doing this evening. Hope there's not too much damage.
Of course still completely quiet out here.
Looping seems to have stopped on the Cairns radar, with a big hole in the middle.

Latest track.

CNS radar is back, but showing a loop of 3 frames,- 22:30UTC, 35 & 40.

The rain just hasn't let up. Using the torch, it looks like about 90 mm,- going by my texta marks on the nylex outer tube.

Hope not too much damage for you fellas in the south.
Was a strange day yesterday, no wind at all, all the while reading of power out and trees down all over the place.
I did a fuel run Sunday morning and serviced the genny , but so far all good.
Still no wind here, just steady rain since late yesterday.

Damn radar, BoM really need to lift their game.

Cheers

Strange indeed, Bunyip.
We did a grocery/diesel run yesterday and the scenery was all heavy blue silhouettes across the hills and the skies south.
And like you, no winds, just on and off drizzle.

We've had a 2v cell failing these last few weeks and no amount of equalizing fixes it so rely more on the generator an hour a day to lift the battery readings for the rest of the cells for the day but will have to replace it some time. Minor problem compared to Cairns power outages and people's freezers.

Hope the night went okay for everyone.

Similar here Bunyip and Dormant, heavily overcast last dark clouds moving fast, just no rain.

Bugger about the radars.

130mm in the guage. Generator city around here ATM. Ergon are going to cop a hiding over this. Pity those poor b a s t a r d s out in the wind and rain risking their lives to put the power back on.

forgot the rain , lol .. only 40mm here this morning..

bugger about your battery Dormant, and once one goes they seem to all get in line jump ship.

So the real question now is will it hang around and keep giving rain or will it move off
and give us some clear weather to dry out a bit?
Bom seem to think it could sit out there for 24hr or so.

Cheers

Apart from a few trees down, lots of fronds, it has been pretty good. from what i heard on the radio a few of the banana plantations just out of Innisfail have been completely flattened.
the system has intensified and is now a cat 2.

it is still fairly windy here at time but the sun is also out at times.

180mm for the past 24 hrs, creek was right up and even came out onto the road.

Finally got the power back, 24 hours without power from a low that wasn’t a cyclone, doesn’t look good if we get a Cat 3 or stronger

Hi Weary, thanks for posting that conversation. And mentioning us out at the edges. Non-answer, & a brush-off.

Edit, somewhat later

So, on close inspection, would anyone call this a squashed spider? (Looks better online.) Although we do know where it's headed.

Yeah good thing it's out there at cat 4 ...

Should see a week of nice weather now by the looks of things.

I had not looked at the MJO for about 2 weeks , wow it did a sneeky cut back and is now heading out of our area again.
That could delay any more real wet season stuff.

Cheers

It can't get away from us quick enough.

Lovely sunny day here, not too hot, low 30s. Yard still looks nice and fresh. Doesn't feel like any more Wet though, early dry season day.

No real rain predicted.
