I agree the past few weeks the wet does seem to have a different "feel" then the previous 2...I havent actually minded them as Cairns got it bad the jasper year and Townsville last year and us in middle with no real major disasters thankfully but still plenty of rain...hopefully the El nino will translate to a pretty dry, dry season...I loved it last year ..proper wet season followed by a proper dry season just about perfect...
Bunyip glad to hear the missus is enjoying herself..nothing like a new bub to keep grandma happy huh.!
Mate I have an old 5/8th super simplex turret press for the .243, 30/30 and Hornet and while I was looking around at what press to get for the handgun a fella at the range gave me his old RCBS single stage press..So Im happy with that at this stage while I get used to the exact-ness required to make the consistent loads required for use in a precision semi auto race gun...I see every week blokes at the range getting jams and failures to extract and messing up their whole stage at a shoot...so while i'm trying to get the handload right I'm using a jeweller scale to individually weigh every load till i get it right and become comfortable enough to build consistent loads..also measure length every bullet and plunk test each round..Once I'm happy with loads and my process I'll start using the powder measure and speed it up a bit..
One old fella I shoot against has 4 Lee progressive presses set up so he never has to swap the dies to load another calibre but every week he has issues...maybe something to be said for taking your time with each stage of the process rather then just trying to punch out 200 rounds an hour while you are watching the cricket or footy at the same time..lol..
What are you using Bunyip...?..
and yeah I looked at that mantis laser system but have found that this bloke has basically refined teaching practical handgun shooting to a fine art...as long as I use video and am honest with self assessment then i feel I should develop the skills to becoime competetive before too long...I just wish I still had my 18 year old body and brain though...its a hard slog for a ageing fella.. .....
