Monsoon to become inactive across northern Australia

Model guidance indicates the potential low will track eastwards, away from the Queensland coast, dragging the monsoon trough with it, away from Australia.

As a result, northern Australia is likely to experience an inactive monsoon period, during which widespread rainfall is unlikely across the region.
