Yeah the radar looked great around midnight..must have been a doozy of a storm..plenty of thunder here but we only got 16.5 mm out of it..it was supposed to be a bit wild up around mareeba as well..

and remember nearly 6 months ago the Optus outage in melbourne just about shut the whole city down and had people going crazy...yet that was just for 7 hours but it was like the world had stopped for the poor city folk..

That length of time must be so frustrating 28 but are still on a telstra landline and the service has been terrible for at least 10 years now..there is just no real accountability anymore..


and SM your line about not travelling further south then Townsville reminded me of working in the Banana's here almost 30 years back and some of the local lads hasselling the backpackers about their travels..there was hardlyy any only a handful of backpackers here those days..some of these provincial young fellas were boasting about never having travelled anywhere further then townnsville in their entire lives and stating that they dont know why anyone would want to because Tully had everything anyone would ever need...I used to have a chuckle at their narrow view of the world...
