A trough well move over Southern Queensland this morning/ today as shown by the arrows I have highlighted on the 4 day chart below. This is from a low and cold front that is moving Eastwards across the Tasman Sea. If the timing is right we could see some storm activity with it.

The trough should stall and deepen on Thursday and interact with an upper trough Crossing Eastern Australia (which can be seen in image 3&4 of the 4 day chart) which in turn will cause widespread rain. Below is the ECMWF highlighting the moisture behind this system up till l8:00 am Thursday. At this stage there are some discrepancies on how much rain will fall, so to be honest it is one of these systems that you have to watch and be ready for in real time.

Over the Weekend this system should weaken and move off the Coast.
