Well showers drifted down from the north last night and have left 7mm in my gauge this morning..
Forecast looks like I might have a chance to put the tinny in this week. I'd say there will be a
few sickies this week in our area..

Cheers

Great weather here the last couple of days, hardly a cloud to be seen. Ended up with 342mm for September, almost 7 times the average. We now need less than 400mm to record 3000mm 3 years in a row, that would be very unusual.

Apparently Cairns Aero had it's highest Sept. total on record.

Well last week sure turned on the best of FNQ weather.

Overnight I managed to pick up 5mm, gardens will appreciate that and it will bulk up the lawn
I ignored all weekend :)

There were a few pic's floating around the net of a possible whirly this coming weekend, that
will be interesting if it comes off.

Cheers

A quiet start to October here so far with just 10mm. The GFS is showing not too much for the rest of the month at the moment. Hopefully that will change.

The older I get the less I like to change things that arent broken...and i hate having to learn how to use a new format ...

Glad you are OK Bunyip...got to watch those mowers...a very good old friend of ours died from accidentally driving his mower off the edge of a homemde footbridge over a little creek in his front yard in El Arish when the mower landed on top of him..they are surprising heavy and cumbersome as you no doubt found out..

and so today was very humid down here ..it was the first real feeling that storm season might be upon us..and its still 26c at 11pm at night and humid still..

I hope you are right SM and things change.... I have been putting out a few mini sprinkler lines after also seeing the forward forecast not showing much rainfall for the remainder of the month..

Thanks Scott, Still soar with strain type pain from chest through to back, but I'm fine. Just a scary wake up to not take short cuts.
That sounds like a horrible way to go, in a creek with a mower on top. Sorry for your mate and his family.

Been a few showers each day up here, just 2 or 3mm but it's keeping the grass growing that I still have not mowed, It's more thick
than long so I just keep putting it off.

Yes the humidity is starting to make it's presents felt, and even a sheet is getting push off for a few hours, A/C is not far off..

Same here Bunyip, first thunder for the wet today. 10.5mm until 9am and it looks like 30-40 mm more until 3pm. Still heavy showers around at the moment. This was not on the forecast really.

Maybe the BOM guys are more concerned about making a pretty new website then then actual weather forecasting SM...lol...

Anyway its a very technicolour radar pic from babinda to Mossman...havent seen that many bright clours in a while aong the coast and ranges but its a lovely sight even if we are missing out down here...

I'm just down the hill from you (I think). Good heavy rain and occasional thunder.

Just took a look at the "upgraded" BOM. 😬😭

Well it was patchy, but still some nice totals around.
18mm here :)

Yeah I don't remember seeing anything about a stormy arvo in any forecasts :) :)

I suppose I should brave it and have a look at the new format, I'm in Scott's camp and hate change for the sake
of change, why fix what's not broken.
It's like the endless updates on our phones, I'm fine with it the way it is, don't need all my icons changed
just for the sake of it. Anyway grumpy old man rant over, :)

Have a great day all.

Cheers

Grumpy old woman here Bunyip.

They've made the site clunky instead of quick and efficient, for me at least. I don't want to tap or click or scroll my way through ten things every time to get to the one bit information I want, like Cairns radar where I use a shortcut.

Guess we'll have to get used to it. 🙄😑

We ended up with 69.5mm here this morning, Copperlode Dam just to the west had over 100. There were some very heavy showers coming through. We've now passed our October average, a bit unexpected.

One really close lightning strike yesterday arvo got our attention, exciting stuff BigGrin .

Another grumpy old bugger here.
The saving grace seems to be that is basically just a new front end with the old site still there. ie they have new “wonderful and improved rain radar” but you can still go down to the grey bit at the bottom of the page and call up the old radar page and get the individual radar sites.
