The first showers are just hitting us here, such a nice smell and feeling.
Hope you all get a drink over the next few days, forecast looks like a wet week or so..

Yep Bunyip it looks like the Wet is starting up....
We got a bit wet heading out in the boat yesterday from both the squally weather and the bit of a sea that it threw up but then it cleared up to a glorius day and glassy water..Water Visibility was amazing and then the Nor-easter and chop picked up around lunchtime...
P!ssing down currently for the past couple of hours under a convergence zone ..got up an hour or so back to turn off creek gravity feed mainline and turn on emergency tank and check that some new drainage was doing its work.....also drove the ute across the creek to be able to get our 2 wwoofers out to the bus at 9am..depending on rainfall intensity come sun-up they may have to wade or walk the long way across a Tully sugar tramline bridge up the back..either way I doubt they will be happy but we have to do what we have to do..!
No more moving sprinklers or handwatering trees this season though..

62mm here this morning :)
Sure seems like wet season rain ..
All part of the adventure of living up here Scott, be a good feeling not having to water.
I sprayed my lawn with Grazon last week and am leaving it to slowly die before I mow, want it to get a good kill
so it is a bit longer than I would like , but all the weed going yellow is looking good.
Will be time to start cutting a few things and just sticking them in the ground to strike.

Looks fairly wet in Kans today.
Power went out about 2 hours ago, Just got my starlink out and running on 12v :)
After 20mins searching for the lead, pushed up under the back seat in my ute.
$8.50 for dialup speeds on stand by rate, perfect for this type of use.

12.5mm in the gauge this morning, another 46.5 until 3pm. It's been steady rain with a couple of heavier spells. No water running off the yard yet so it has been soaking in which is good.

8 inchs on the old scale here in this event.. Looks like a nice big wet blob over bunyips house ATM...Another wet morning for you mate..! Sounds like you had some nice steady rain at your place SM...Must be looking nice and green around cairns is it..? We are just heading up for a morning swim in the hopefully nice clean running water which will be a fantastic change and hopefully the leaves have been flushed out.....Went up yesterday but didnt brave the fast-flowing chcocolate deluge.. We ended up with 92.5mm this morning with showers still hanging around. That's 105mm for the event so far.
It's amazing what a couple of days of rain does to the lawn Scott. Everything is looking a lot greener already.
The good falls on the Cassowary and Daintree coasts are great to see.

11mm in the gauge this morning with a bit of blue sky and a nice SE blowing. We're nearing 3000mm for the year. That would be 3 years in a row over that mark. Very unusual for here I would think.
It looks like good rain in the Gulf for the next few days with that low moving south.

Didn't get back here yesterday :(
Had 91mm yesterday & just 5mm this morning. :)
Yeah Scott had some good heavy showers over the 2 days, just lovely, except when it is blowing right through the house
and I'm getting damp on the lounge, doesn't happen to often but a mad dash to move stuff and shut doors that don't
get used more than 2 or 3 times a year :)
Now that everything is super green the grasshoppers and other chewing garden monsters are multiplying like mad :(

Just jumped on to look at the radar and there is plenty of storms and showers up the cape and to the west and not far north of the Daintree..
Nothing much on the forecasts till at least the weekend but Ive seen forecasts that say some rain and others that are saying mucho rain in the week or 2 after xmas so i guees its that time of year where anything could happen ...
Mossies have started to sneak about down here in the mornings and evenings bunyip...luckily not too many of your garden monsters except wallabies coming right up close to the shack and even in the nursery areas at night nibbling on stuff they shouldnt be.....the dogs have a bit of a bark from the safety of the verandah when they hear them ...and then go back to the lounge again...I see some fresh meat in their diet before long...

Good morning and a Merry Christmas to one and all :)
Damn steamy arvo yesterday with all that activity to the north and west.
Scott we have a few mozzies and marchies but nothing crazy yet though, We have a little paddy melon
that loves the new shoots and leaves on passion fruit, I've had her on cam standing right up and
pulling the runners down to get the best bits :) But luckily we don't have lots of wallabies here.
Just bloody grasshoppers :(
Not sure what to expect, as you say their is a bit of variance in the forecasts.
Have to slip into town this morning :( and then have to do an airport run on boxing day :(

Santa came early for me with my one year Handgun licence up meaning I can buy more handguns... This sexy 9mm beast arrived in the mail yesterday as well a red dot scope... So now at least I can start competing at a higher then club level for IPSC if I can find a a way to minimize performance anxiety... I hope everybody has as merry a christmas as me...  and a happy new year...

I'd like to wish everyone a very merry Christmas and a happy new year. I am happy already, we just had a nice shower of 7mm to water the gardens and lawn for tomorrow. Hopefully a lot more to come before new year. Nice gun Scott. I hope you do well in future competitions with that one. So we have gone from 1000mm in Tully on lasts nights GFS run to 12 hours later now 150mm... I guess if nothing else it gives lots of clickbait for FB weather "content creators"... Sm, did you get a little Honda mate...?..I just cranked my little 2.2 up the other day to give her a run ...she was purring like a little kitten...best genny i have ever owned....

Had a nice storm on Christmas day just after lunch, that left 15mm in the gauge.
Managed to get to the airport and back un scathed, although there was no parking at all and I needed to
assist my passenger with their luggage, did a bit of a sneaky and parked in the Avis parking and run in
Happy I wasn't towed or ticketed when I got back to the car.
Been a bit of a disappointment with all these showers pushing down from the NW but most don't make the
coast here.
Hoping we get a fair bit more before NYE I'm around 500 down on avg.
Scott you lucky bugger, I got a gun sock & a litre of Pauls custard :) :)
They have good reviews, Don't know if your other half is licensed or not but you should be getting on to that
and anybody else you can talk into getting a license. We need to double our numbers or better.

5.5mm in the gauge this morning, 17.5 in the last 7 days which was disappointing after all the colour on the radar. The rain chart is looking better for the next week.  A 6.8kva Dewalt Scott. I'll post a photo when I unbox it. Plenty of power there hopefully. Dec: 158.5mm YTD: 2947.5mm
