Winds are starting to pickup a bit here, been a fairly dry morning with only quick short sharp showers.
Cheers

Dead still and quiet where I am in Mareeba. Occasional light breeze. Drove to Atherton this morning. Between Walkamin and Tolga it was blowing a gale, trees bending every which way, needed both hand on the wheel. And still quiet back in Mareeba.
Rain on and off everywhere.

Just a disappointing 4mm in the gauge this morning :( a quiet and calm morning here, think I might even put out a tank or 2 of spray if it is still calm when the sun gets over the hill. Who knows I might even be able to mow this arvo :) Have a good day folks.. Cheers Edited by user Saturday, 10 January 2026 5:57:37 AM(UTC)

95mm yesterday and 24mm today so far...
Looks like you cairns and north folks may well miss most of the system and it will likely jog on past us dowen here as well..
Getting pretty gusty now and I'd expect that to pick up during the day as the rain and wind bands start to come onshore a bit..
What I'm not looking forward to is the inevitable north side of the cyclone effect of warm northerlys from tomorrow onwards...
Think I'll give the service pistol match at Kurrimine a miss today though Ive seen pictures of some of the conditions they have previously held it in with torrential rain creating a lake halfway up to the knees out on the field...Tough bunch there but I dont want to be out driving around today..probably wouldnt have to fight for a parking spot at the ramp today either..lol..
BTW SM ,I stole those Bingil bay pics and no doubt it wont be a quick fix the way they do things these days...
They can call it what they want at the BOM but they remain a dissapointment much like the ABC and just about anything else government run..they all just need to go back to basics and try and focus upon their core responsibilities and forget all the other [censored]they waste money and time on..
Having issues with phone line so hopefully that holds out good enough till we get a guy to check it..

Hmmm. BOM now have it as a cat 2 hitting Ayr. Not a breath of wind here in Edge Hill with pathetic attempts at rain.

Not much wind where I am in Mareeba either, I swear we're in a force field. Get up the road 1km and it's windy. The rain comes and goes.

Cyclone Koji looks disorganised on the radar. JTWC predicting it will stay at 40 knots until landfall at the moment.

The sun is out, and now it's hot. 😁 Too easy to get used to the cool of overcast and rain. I'd like a stiff breeze right now.

8mm here in the last 3 days. It looks like muggy weather with the chance of an afternoon thunderstorm for the next few days. Time to get the mowing done.

Fairly stiff NW breeze here from very early this morning, warm and dry.
Yes SM lawns & gardens are the order of the day, got most of my lawns done yesterday then the mower blew a fuse, got it going again but put off finishing, was hoping to spray this morning but she's a bit windy for that..
Cheers

G'day folks, Picked up a very welcome 20mm from a storm yesterday arvo. Watched a few collapse as they got to the ranges & didn't hold a lot of hope, then the next one pushed right on over and was just what was needed to cool things off a bit.
Ready for the next burst of good monsoon
Cheers

A couple of red blobs around yesterday but no rain here. Half way through January and 296.5mm in the gauge so far. Not bad seeing the average for the month since 2011 is 542mm. Hopefully rain picks up again from the weekend on by the forecast.
