Thanks Bunyip. Not sure how long I'll last... Lol. Short light shower just on dusk yesterday. That was it. Lovely morning. Clear to the east. A couple streaky clouds to the west. And no creepy balloons sneaking over us.

Hey 28, have you ever done a balloon ride ? It is just magic and I would do it every week if I won lotto.
Highly recommend going up one day if you can spare the coin.
Sure is a beautiful morning :)

Radar not showing much but the sky tells a different story...I put out a couple of backpacks of roundup but decided not to push my luck as the sky gets blacker.. Yeah bunyip the balloon riding looks like a a real hoot..!...  https://www.dailymotion.com/video/x9lprp2

Managed to find 5mm in the bottom of the gauge this morning from a bit of Daintree Drizzle overnight..
Scott , that's not the ride I was recommending, and flight of any kind has it's risks, there is just
nothing like a nice early morning floating along in a balloon.
Looks like a nice clear morning for you down at the range, good luck.

lol 28..likewise but no thanks to the chopper as well...
Years back we got chatting to a customer that came by to pick up a load of plants ..he ended up telling us that he has started/bought a balloon ride business at Mareeba...he even offered us to come up for a free ride....the missus was up for it but I declined the offer...its not the adrenaline or danger level but unfortunately I have an irrational fear of heights which makes me quite physically ill...I even get sick on planes..
Shame because as bunyip says it does look quite serene floating along up there..Did you go on the Mareeba balloons Bunyip..?...How long of a ride is it..?
Bit showery this morning but the sun is out now....weatherzone had 40-80 every day next week for us yesterday..today its 40-80 tomorrow and 5-10, 10-20 and 20-40 all the rest of the week....I understand that, of course, it depends on the monsoon trough and whether a low develops and where it goes and how long it hangs around etc but why do they even bother putting out days ahead rainfall numbers when they are happy to change it so drastically each run...its pretty annoying really..
Thought about heading down to try and snare a barra this morning but the drizzly start put me off so I might head up for a bit of 9mm practice after lunch if the day stay this nice..better go and get a bit more roundup out before the wetter days start..

Beautiful blue sky this morning. That's 18mm in the gauge here in the last 7 days. We're about 175mm down on our Jan/Feb average since 2011 so a wet March would be nice.
I haven't had the experience of riding on a hot air balloon but I did do a bit of travel for work on helicopters in the Torres Strait years ago. A bit of a concern one day when the pilot had to refuel the chopper with 44 gallon drums and a water test kit, great fun otherwise.

Yeah Scott, we did the Mareeba balloon flight, Ride was about 1.5hr and we landed in this tiny little paddock
beside the hwy and a house. Very skilled landing. Was amazing watching roo's and cattle in the early morning.
As I said I'd do it a lot if we won lotto :) Might even buy one..
Daughter gave me a helicopter ride for 50 from Port Douglas out over Low Isle and a few reefs, was great too
could see dugong and whales. Would like to hire one for a couple of hours and check out the whole Daintree
Valley and a few of the close reefs out from here.
Always wanted to fly, just never made enough money to make it happen. haha..
Not much weather to report.
March is traditionally our wettest month, so we wait and see.

Once for work got taken up to near PCB by chopper to inspect a nav light construction site. On the way back the pilot took us LOW down the Mossman River from near its source to the gorge. Amazing trip.

That would of been a great trip Weary, Some amazing country out the back there that nobody ever sees.
Especially now that all the country around Mt Windsor is locked up.
Looks like your getting a bit of action this morning Scott..
How is all that rain in the outback, some great totals in SA and lots of the bush in flood.

Yeah Bunyip, Mt Windsor tableland is absolutely beautiful, since logging stopped up there it’s always been locked up, even when it was grazing lease. The access is across private land so the gate is always locked.

42mm 2 days ago and just 6 last night..Bunyip I think the radar was overcooking it a bit yesterady morning as we had a whole night of rain but just drizzly stuff whilst the radar looked better then that..[ Forecasts have backed right off for this week..what a strange way to start our traditionally wettest time of the year...[ edit.. just had a look at the 24 hr totals...249mm at Whyanbeel..333mm at Rex creek..Where is that..?.....Did you cop that also Bunyip..?..Highway is cut north of Ingham as well... Well that was disappointing, yesterday afternoon it looked like the radar was filling in nicely and we would be having a solid night of rain, but it all moved north and we only got 55 mm. Highway still shut at the Seymour R.

32mm in the gauge this morning with a nice SE blowing. That persistent low is still sitting out in the coral sea. Access-G and GFS have it approaching the NTC by the end of the week at the moment. That could be interesting. The BOM has it going south.

Made a HUGE mistake and searched for Higgins FB page just to see how he was teasing the impending cyclone for subscriptions. Now my feed is chockers with weather pages all teasing and trying to get subscriptions. How many people now have weather pages where they just scrape content from the internet and re-present on their page?
BTW Higgins seems to have a new model where “individuals” post teasers about the impending cyclone and post a link to Higgins subscription page for more info.

Hard to beleive people are so gullible isnt it...
