So the Australian heat engine is going into full mode with Fitzroy crossing going for 39Cat the end of its run.

My goodness. That is crazy for this time of year. Nothing abnormal up this way (Cairns), however it is interesting to see the heat building to quickly over in your part of the country. |

There are negative dew points right throughout the Kimberly.

5pm obs across the region ,minus 2.6 to 22.5.
In fact Broome dew point got as low as minus. 27deg c at 1.30pm.

Those dew points are as low as Antartica currently.

 http://www.bom.gov.au/an...bservations/antall.shtml

There is a distinct difference though.

Antartica is a moist 88% at Casey but Broome is only an extreme dry of 1% at 1.30pm.

I didn't even know that was possible?

Here is an article of that happening in the Californian desert in 2016 . Mind blowing

There was some convective shower cells off the mid coast of WA this morning. The BOM synoptic commentary suggesting there was an upper level jetstream in the vicinity. Nice to see the moisture profile on the rise . Nice to see a tropical low sitting over Broome area today |

A lot of cloud, rain and thunderstorms associated with this tropical low off the coast of west WA. Friday 21st Jan 2021 I am sure many will like a break from the hot dry heat Edited by user Friday, 22 January 2021 2:56:11 PM(UTC)

Circulation of rain band centred on the coast north of Wyndham Also evident on national loop animation. BOM ACCESS has this tropical storm building as the week goes on. Tracking SW down the coast. Hopefully ACCESS is overcooking the forecast because it looks a bit beast like down near Karratha later in the week.http://www.bom.gov.au/pr...s/IDR072.loop.shtml#skip |
