A contribution to your forumIn Alaska, a summer of extreme weather continues"Alaska is having a rough summer. Following a July that was Alaska’s hottest month on record, erratic and unusual precipitation totals have caused downpours in some parts of the state and sparked fires and water restrictions in others." This is quite an extensive report actually. Quite interesting https://www.washingtonpost.com/local/2019/08/22/alaska-summer-extreme-weather-continues/A report from Alaska summer 2019. Fires, heavy rainfall, record temperature. ,low rainfall, rainfall records from atmospheric river event, warmer-than-usual waters in the surrounding Bering, Chukchi, and Beaufort seas and the North Pacific , In Anchorage, June and July were the warmest months ever recorded, with nighttime lows that rarely dropped below 50 degrees for most of the summer. Such a small country with such incredible weather contrasts this summer?. What is the distance from one end to the other of Alaska? Edited by user Thursday, 5 September 2019 6:09:24 PM(UTC)

Thought it better not to start a new post for every NH typhoon. so
Landed in Japan Typhoon Faxai, a Laotian woman’s name, slammed ashore in the city of Chiba, just east of Tokyo, a little before dawn, bringing with it wind gusts of 207 kmh (128 mph) in Chiba, the strongest ever recorded there, national broadcaster NHK said.

https://www.reuters.com/article/us-asia-storm-japan/strong-typhoon-winds-lash-tokyo-area-causing-transport-chaos-idUSKCN1VT0U8 I didn't see this covered by our Australian media? By AFP - September 10, 2019 @ 11:04am TOKYO: Around 17,000 passengers were stranded overnight at Tokyo’s Narita Airport, an official said Tuesday, after it took a direct hit from a powerful typhoon that caused transport chaos throughout the capital. The typhoon caused more than 100 flights to be scrapped and road and rail links to the airport were also badly affected, leaving many with no transport options to the city – 70 kilometres to the west. Airport spokesman Kei Miyahara told AFP that a total of 16,900 were stuck at the airport at midnight. time lapse video link https://twitter.com/i/status/1170772342970224640 https://www.nst.com.my/world/2019/09/520206/17000-stranded-tokyo-airport-after-typhoon-faxia

Sadly, whilst the world condemns Brazil for fires in the Amazon... Indonesia still do their usual clearance of the rain forest. This image from Himarawi was taken on 14th Sep at midday and shows the island of Borneo on the left and Sulawesi on the right, with multiple fires visible on Borneo. The only time it seems to hit the news is when Singapore air quality drops. Edit: In-fact, here it is in the news. https://www.channelnewsasia.com/news/singapore/singapore-haze-air-quality-weather-unhealthy-range-nea-11900226 https://www.businessinsider.sg/haze-in-singapore-could-worsen-anytime-if-winds-become-unfavourable-nea-warns/ Edited by user Saturday, 14 September 2019 5:38:58 PM(UTC)

It is sometimes very difficult to verify these claims. Does anyone have a link to Moscow climate data??Moscow times. Independent newspaper https://www.themoscowtimes.com/search/coldest%20summer%20on%20record If this is the article it doesn't give much detail. https://www.themoscowtimes.com/search/coldest%20summer%20on%20record "Muscovites suffered the coldest summer on record this year, which drove them indoors to the malls to escape the rains. The coldest August in a hundred years with temperatures falling to 12°C"
Where is the link to Russias climate data?

Some more big temperature swings
https://www.accuweather.com/en/weather-news/blizzard-to-usher-in-piercing-cold-november-like-temperatures-in-its-wake/598741
extract
'The temperature plummeted more than 60 degrees in less than 24 hours, making this the largest two-day temperature swing ever recorded in October. AccuWeather RealFeel® Temperatures were near zero Thursday morning while snow created slushy roads.
The temperature in Denver stood at 12 as of 2 a.m. MDT Friday, which shattered the old record low for the date of 22 set back in 1946.'
