The question is: will we get any rain...?

4mm-ish in the gauge this morning, not enough.

So the inevitable march south of the predicted coastal crossing begins. First map shows north of Coen, Second south of Coen.

I've finished putting up new gutter on the back of the house this morning. Ran out of rivets last night.
Now it's just waiting.
Didn't water the gardens this morning, and they are hanging out for the rain to start.

Yes like to see it still come a little more south yet.

Cheers

We had a fairly angry little storm out here at G'vale yesterday arvo. Smashed down for a bit. Still no rain gauge :/

Cyclone Tiffany named at 4pm today. Bom still keen on sending it pretty much due W at this stage.

Looks to be crossing right at Princess Charlotte bay tomorrow..

You guys Cairns and north should see some rain bands but I fear we are too far south to see much action down Tully way...

I have also been putting off watering for the past week hoping some of the 40-80mm daily forecasts would come to fruition...forecast rainfall has backed off now though, just hope we get at least some...

No surprises Bunyip that you guys are getting a good drop..any wind to speak of..?.and thats a good start weary..more to come no doubt..

We just got a few mm's from a couple of short sharp showers so far..

I had a rather rude awakening before dawn this morning when I felt something slimy bumping into my legs in the dark...

Turned on my headlamp to find a 4.5m Scrub python that was checking out my 5 month old American bulldog pup sleeping next to me...my staffy that sleeps at the foot of my bed had abandoned her post without even warning us and was later found out in another room looking rather sheepish...she's no Lassie thats for sure..

Decent sized snake, did it leave of its own accord or did you have to “assist “ it to leave?

No wind at all, just showers passing through.

Good size scrubby, we had the same thing when we got scout, they must smell
young pup a mile off. Rather rude being woken by them.

Cheers

59mm here that was a 6am this morning, we had a bunch more before i left for work at 8 but i didnt check it. Fruit trees are thriving and growing before my eyes at the moment, durian and mangosteen love nothing more than a few hundred mm of rain followed by a week of 37C sunny days.

Oooo snake encounters, I've never had one of those. I think I've only ever seen 2 snakes at Chillagoe in the 11 years I've been here. The 'worst' surprise I've had is the odd green tree frog managing to make it into my bedroom and jump on my face.

To be expected, I don't think we'll get much out of this. Sprinkled for about half an hour earlier this morning, I was out in it and didn't get wet. Don't think we'll get much wind either, the Featherbeds protect us from most of that. But I put a few things into the container which should have been put there months back.

Still, it's a nice day, overcast and coolish with a gentle breeze occasionally. 29degrees in the house, 64% humidity. Just on 30degrees on the deck.

Apart from being a weather watcher, I think I've finally become one of the blase mob because nothing ever happens (dare I say it).

Great to see everyone's getting good rain. I checked the gauge about 2 hours ago, and it was of course, bone dry - although the outside at the bottom still had a drip on it, nothing inside though...LOL.

Friends stopping at Cardwell tonight, said it rained all the way.

Black as anything to the north. Blob on radar moving across. Heard about 3 splatters.
