Those people in Darwin that experienced Tracey must be a bit edgy at the moment….

My niece lives in Darwin, close to the water. So I'm keeping a keen eye on this.

Yeah when you have been through a big blow before any cyclone in your vicinity for ever after does cause some anxiety.. I dont know how good the radar is up there but currently there doesnt seem to be any real heavy rain assocciated with it but the track map does have it passing mighty close to Darwin town as a Cat 2..

The latest JTWC warning for Cyclone Fina has a central pressure of 964hpa. It is interesting that "The Bureau" warning doesn't seem to have a central pressure reading, just that it is a Cat4. Still a fairly poor rainfall forecast for our area for the rest of the month. Nov: 45.5mm YTD: 2789mm Edit: I found it, on the Tropical Cyclone Technical info page, 953hpa. I'm glad everything is well for your niece 28. Cyclone Fina looks to be finally weakening. A bit of a hit for the Berkeley River Lodge though.
37°C in the carport today. By the forecast it looks like a bit of rain from Thursday which would be great for the garden.
490.5mm here for the spring months, most of which fell in a few days in Sept.

295mm for sept in Tully...then 28mm in october and 15mm in november.. Any wonder seeing all the brown grass driving from Tully to Innisfail today... Forecasts for the week aheah show bugga all with 1-5mm daily totals from "possible storms".. so much for our 70-80 % higher then average chance on an early onset wet and the week ahead being wetter then average.....

That's a fairly dry November done with 45.5mm here, roughly half the average. The spring total was better with 490.5mm which is over double the average of 211. No rain in the last 12 days here.
By the forecast from "The Bureau", the start of Dec looks a bit more promising.

Yeah SM a bit under half of my avg for November.
Did pickup 2mm from the edge of a small storm yesterday, the rain was even hot falling on me :) and no real relief from the heat.
That SE change should give us a few showers at least.
Cheers

Well yesterday turned into a nice stormy day, picked up 14mm.
At one point there was a couple of black patches on the radar up between Mareeba & Kuranda and they were there for a few radar images so at least 12 mins, somewhere up in that bush it got pretty wild for a bit.
Bit of high overcast this morning and a bit cooler start to the day :)
Cheers

We had an inch a few days back and a few mm's since ...Wow it was lovely everything just instantly perked up around here....
Had a storm day before yesterday that was wild and gusty but hardly any rain....it seems like the radars are overcooking it a bit down here..Have watched the rain over us on the radar translating to much less on the ground...
I'm still using the older radar as the pixelation and clarity on the new one just doesnt seem to work that great..Also harder to find our place on the new radar compared to the old..
and looks like some nice rain forecast for Cairns and further north in the next couple of days with bugga all for us down here..

A bit of rain out of this SE surge would be great. We've missed everything in the last couple of weeks except for a couple of mm in drizzle on Monday. The tableland seems to have done well though.
Hopefully this change gets the wet season moving.

First showers were yesterday morning around 07:00 then a bit of a sunny day for a couple of hours then back to showers and small storms in the arvo and through the night. Creeks are running again this morning and I had 72mm in the gauge :)
I'd like to think that this is the start of some good wet stuff
Cheers

Right on 50mm here ...geez it was nice..
Instantly cooled the place down..the grass is so lush looking and some marang fruits seemed to plump right up overnight..
Bit more regular stuff like this would be nice until the wet season proper starts....its a relief not to have to spend up to 10pm every night switching taps and valves over to keep stuff green..

It's good to see everyone got a nice drop. 22mm here in showers yesterday. A nice SE blowing this morning which is pleasant.
By the forecast it looks like back to drier conditions for the next week or so.

Picked up another 13mm this morning :) It sure was nice to get a couple of good falls, but while the creeks got a flush they are only just flowing again and will dry very quickly without regular top ups.
Cheers
