Was it during Yasi there was a possibility of the fujiwara effect? A complete newbie to "understanding" weather, I remember asking the question, and getting totally trashed on I almost never came back. Watched a video by OzCyclones earlier today. He said he was posting to let people know that no-one knows where it will cross. Edited by user Tuesday, 6 January 2026 3:55:18 PM(UTC)

Oh wow 28 I'm sorry for your experience there, but very glad you have stuck around and still with us over here. It was crazy when events happened but most of the time it was a great place.just a few nut jobs to spoil it.
This is where all that WZ history was so useful and informative.
Yes it may have been Yassi, they all just blend in, sharpen chainsaw and engage 4x4.
Cheers

I'm so annoyed that WZ was shut down. It was tantamount to book burning, losing all that knowledge of on the ground experiences. Edited by user Tuesday, 6 January 2026 8:09:27 PM(UTC)

Good morning weather people :)
Let's not get to caught up in all the hype just yet, the LOW is starting to take shape but has a long way to go yet to be a cyclone. Radar imagery is showing a general circulation out to the North of Willis Island.
It will be an interesting couple of days as we wait for this to do it's thing. In the mean time head down to your local shopping centre and watch the madness ") :)
Cheers
