Back to a blue sky and a nice cool breeze here, 12mm overnight.
At 81kg, this generator is probably a bit heavy to cart around camping. I might put a plug and changeover switch on the switchboard to run a couple of circuits in emergency. Maybe a quietener box over it as well to keep the noise down a bit.
The GFS has drier weather ahead for the next couple of weeks at the moment.

A couple of heavier showers here last night, 14mm in the gauge this morning. We're approaching our 15 year April average of 235mm. The cooler weather is very enjoyable at present.

Apr: 202.5mm YTD: 1787mm I'd like to see it SM 42mm in my gauge yesterday and 11mm this morning. Didn't mow last week on those couple of nice days, saving a bit of fuel so would like a dry day or 2 now to get it done. Cheers |

19.5mm in the gauge overnight. We're doubling our daily forecast presently so it's a bit heavier than what they expected.
A strong wind warning is out for the next couple of days, it could be windy on the esplanade for the Dawn Service tomorrow. Hopefully it's fine.

54mm at the new El Arish weather station..79 in Tully. SM wasnt your forecast for drier days ahead... damn its soggy down here and most nights and mornings we are getting showers but with random showers anytime really...The 10 day charts are showing the typical large slow moving high setups that we expect this time of year with plenty of showery weather on the back of the constant Sou-easters.... www.weatherzone.com.au/models/chartsI think I say it every year but I'll say it again...man, I hate this weather..!...The dogs spend the days sooking on the beds or couch wistfully looking out the windows ...they get feet and skin issues with the constant wet so only venture outside to pee or rarely if they are feeling frisky when the sun puts in an appearance... Best for all to say Yes sir, No sir if questioned by a QLD cop with an itchy trigger finger...!..It sure would be interesting to watch a Glock turn fully auto....bit of kick being .40 calibre though so probably flocks of cockatoos woiuld be most at risk.. edit..... www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2026/apr/23/queensland-police-gun-recall-qps-glockI used to have a 5-6 kva genny and it was noisy and chewed through the fuel so downsized to a Honda 2.2kva...such a nice little genny but I mainly use it to around the property if I need to use power tools and sometimes a leaf blower or pressure washer for paths and shadehouses...same deal as Bunyip though ..its surprising what it will run in the household during blackouts ..I'm not as conservative as weary..a bit of a warm up and then everything gets plugged into the power boards and away she goes. Hey Bunyip I didnt realise you had FNQ pioneer heritage...it sure would have been exciting times back in the day up there... I'm sure many a miner came to town after slaving away washing dirt with a pocket full of gold and then scrurried back to the mine when it run out.. sure would have been good times while it lasted though wouldnt it ..at least if you didnt get rolled in the street for that pocketfull of gold anyway....!! Well 62mm in the gauge this morning, most of that fell through the day yesterday with some heavy showers in the arvo. Local paddocks are starting to show the signs of a long boggy wet, with not much growth and now the stock are walking it all into the ground.
Scott, I feel there is more to that story than being reported. If a cop is in the position to need to fire is it really bad thing if it goes full auto ? Lot cheaper than feeding scumbags for years in jail..
So far this morning it looks like a beautiful morning.
Lest We Forget.
Cheers

12mm here this morning. It's been a nice day in Cairns for Anzac Day, no rain so far in White Rock and a nice cool breeze. Lots of sunshine too.
I agree, it's better if a police gun fires too many bullets than none at all.

Well looks like I'll be listening to SM and not FB for my weather from now on...
Spot on mate the last few days have been quite magnificent...it would be nice for the soggy ground to begin to dry out a little..
So whats on the cards for the rest of the week..?.Weatherzone has showers every day for us down Tully way...I hope thats not right..
Slow day at the range on saturday..due to anzac day i suppose and no matchs scheduled...i prefer it quiet anyway...I havent been there much lately which makes it more obvious to see my improvement...Wow this dryfire stuff really does work wonders when done in a methodical and disciplined way each day...a lot of it is very repetative and just focuses on hand-eye co-ordination and muscle memory..I also do all my drills 2 handed as well as strong hand and weak hand only ...I hardly ever seeing anyone shooting or training with the left hand and it always drags down the scores in matches even though only a small part of the matchs are shot with the weak hand....But i do Wish i had my 18 year old body and mind again though it would no doubt be happening so much quicker..
and yeah i hadnt looked at it that way but yeah a fully auto Glock is probably just what most of these cops need if they are to regularly hit anything...its a bit scary that the majority of them only actually shoot or practice once a year..
Definately Blanky nights down here since the skies cleared up though...

Beautiful day here, got most off the lawn done, only got bogged once. :)
Our weatherzone forecast is the same Scott, showers all week.
This Glock thing is interesting, 20 million Glocks in circulation and only the QPS have a problem. I'm sure Glock will be interested in what they find. Glad your still having fun mate
Cheers

Well just 3 mm in my gauge this morning.
Radar shows more showers off the coast and a stiff breeze with them.
Off up to the area west of Musgrave on Friday for a couple of nights I think just got to sort out what vehicle to take, Mrs is very protective of her Jimny :)
Cheers

Been slacking over the past few days and haven’t emptied the gauge but there was 25mm in it this morning. The mowing front is giving me the s@dfs, every time the grass dries out and I am ready to mow another shower comes through. Wet grass and my mower don’t mix.

24 mm in the gauge and it’s currently bucketing down. Unsurprisingly the grass remains unmowed

Yeah its a battle alright...
Backed up on most jobs around here and the old backs been giving me curry so i finally relented and went and got cracked by the chiropractor which has sorted out the constant nerve pain for now....best $70 I,ve spent in a while..
Anyway have fun on your trip bunyip..it would be nice to get away from these crappy days for a bit I'd imagine..
Never heard how Ron's Hinchi trip went...?..I guess if he got into a few metery's we owuld have heard about it though I think the period he went down there for was a crappy tide week...I've never had much luck when there has been not much run down there ...Still an unreal place at any time if you defend yourself from the midgies..

A nice wet day here yesterday, 17mm in the gauge this morning. From Nov to Apr we've had 2187mm which is about 500 down on the average of the last 4 wet seasons. It shows we've had a wet time of it of late.
The rain is quite heavy again here as well at the moment.
