TOP PRIORITY FOR IMMEDIATE BROADCAST Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland for HEAVY RAINFALL For people in parts of Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay Council Areas. Issued at 10:51 pm Monday, 30 September 2019.  Weather Situation: The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 10:40 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar near Redcliffe and Beachmere. They are forecast to affect Deception Bay waters by 11:20 pm and Bribie Island by 11:50 pm. Wonderful to see some of the rain totals around. I missed out on most of the rain here with 9mm. Impressive rain rates on the BON warning at 70mm+ per hour. Edited by user Tuesday, 1 October 2019 5:16:15 AM(UTC)

I got woken up a couple of times in the night to absolutely torrential rain and checking this morning I received 68.2mm.
Amazing stuff, I didn't really expect that!
BOM forecast for today:
Brisbane area
Cloudy. High (70%) chance of showers, most likely during the morning and afternoon. The slight chance of a thunderstorm in the west during this afternoon and evening. Winds east to southeasterly 20 to 30 km/h becoming light in the late evening.

It totally checked it down and my tanks went from less than 20% to over flowing in less than one hour. :-) Gutters over flowed and my lawn flooded with dust and old grass cutting just floating on top. 82mm according to the Nylex. Amazing!

Notes of yesterday weather - 30/9/19: Fine and partly cloudy with cu clouds. Thunder at 8:50 pm from thunderstorms to the north. A warm day with variable temperature in the morning and afternoon. Near average dew point rising slowly from early morning, falling in the late morning while remaining near average before rising again during the middle of the day. The dew point then generally rose slowly in the afternoon and fell in the evening remaining near average. Variable daytime relative humidity. Light W to SW winds at times early, light WSW to SSW during the morning, followed by a ESE to E wind change at midday. The wind direction gradually backed for the rest of the day becoming S to SE later in the evening.
Today: Light shower at about 1:30 am. Warm overnight with the temperature generally stable which has started to rise in the last 30 minutes. Near average and stable dew point fell slightly earlier today. Moderately low relative humidity so far today. Light SSW to SE winds.

My rain gauge got broken so not sure of totals but the pool has a few inches more of water in it this morning. Torrential rain in the storm around 11.15pm then I got woken up at 2.00am with another storm and heavy rain. Some nice totals out there for some areas. Very overcast and a lot cooler this morning here.

Good heavens 'Greg'. Those are massive totals  .Great to see the tank full' Delboy'. Good to wake up to some good news of rain. Possibly More for some today in areas that need it. Lets hope.

The radar observations showing Warwick got 11mm in 30 minutes. Might of been storm. Correction. 10mins later 16 mm. A stationary storm perhaps

For people in parts of Western Downs and South Burnett Council Areas.
Issued at 2:47 pm Tuesday, 1 October 2019.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is occurring with this storm.
Weather Situation:
The Bureau of Meteorology warns that, at 2:45 pm, severe thunderstorms were detected on the weather radar. Thunderstorms are moving towards the northeast. They are forecast to affect the ranges north of Jandowae by 3:20 pm.
Heavy rainfall that may lead to flash flooding is likely.
58mm has fallen in the hour to 2:40pm at Braziers Hill Alert.
This is part of what of i4hanish picked up yesterday. The sounding that he posted showed two things. 1st was the sheer was not that strong and storms would move slower. 2nd the direction of the sheer had a nice feeder band into it. |

Absolutely pissing down here! Last 20 minutes we have had heavy rain and heaps of pea sized hail! That little cell east and north of us moved in an odd westerly direction and went right over us. What a fantastic surprise. It looks like the official Warwick gauge however will miss out on most, if not all of it. At work so will have to check the home gauge when I get home. I am guessing 20mm? We will see...

Cancellation Severe Thunderstorm Warning - Southeast Queensland

Issued at 3:52 pm Tuesday, 1 October 2019.
Heavy rainfall leading to flash flooding has eased, but thunderstorms continue across parts of the southeastern interior.
Weather Situation:
Severe thunderstorms are no longer affecting the Southeast Queensland area (east of Dalby from Rainbow Beach to Stanthorpe). The immediate threat of severe thunderstorms has passed, but the situation will continue to be monitored and further warnings will be issued if necessary.
58mm has fallen in the hour to 2:40pm at Braziers Hill Alert. |
