                BOM have a warning out for damaging winds.   Severe Weather Warning for DAMAGING WINDS For people in South East and parts of Western Forecast Districts. Issued at 4:22 pm Saturday, 21 September 2019. POSSIBLE DAMAGING WINDS TONIGHT IN THE WEST AND SOUTH  Weather Situation: A low pressure centre to the west of Tasmania is forecast to move close to the south of the state and intensify this evening. DAMAGING WESTERLY WINDS, averaging 60 to 70 km/h with peak gusts of 90 to 100 km/h are possible along the west coast early this evening, then about the south later this evening. Wind gusts south of Geeveston may possibly reach 100 to 110 km/h late this evening. Winds are expected to ease below warning thresholds shortly after midnight as the low moves away to the southeast.                 15.1 deg c is the September mean maximum for Hobart. The station has been recording continually since approx 1920 Hobart has been trending above the mean maximum so far this month.                 Yes Argent I think the negative trend in the AAO generally has helped the rain for west Tasmania. The AAO had a brief positive period last week but has been pretty much on  a neg trend for a few months now. Currently neutral with a slight negative forecast this upcoming week.https://www.cpc.ncep.noa...y_ao_index/aao/aao.shtml Satellite picture shows Tasmania in a cold pool currently with some westerly belt undulations. Hobart a maximum of 15 today about the mean and the central plateau maximum around 7deg c today  |

                Some belated Hobart weather statistics from August and September.   Climate data on linehttp://www.bom.gov.au/js..._c=&p_stn_num=094029 Ellerslie st weather station opened in 1882 August mean rainfall 53.8mm.  August 2019 rainfall 100.2mm..,Nearly double the mean. September much different September mean rainfall 52.8mm September 2019 only  34.6mm.   About 19mm short of the mean |

                18th Oct 2019A rainband swept over the state today.
 
 The west had the higher totals mainly in the 10mm range since 9am. Mount Read 19.4mm
 
 The east side of the state totals were a lot less. Mainly one and 2mm.
 
 Hobart only 1mm since 9am
 
 
 Tomorrow , Saturday 19th October another rain band to sweep the state.Just lighter falls l suspect.

                24th October 2019 Butlers Gorge on the Central plateau had a minimum around freezing this morning,6am at 0.4 deg c and then got as high as 26 deg c at 3.40pm. That is a big diurnal range. About 25.5 deg c climb in 9hrs. The temp climbed 5 deg in one hour at 9am to 10 The wind was a very dry negative dew point North Westerly in the afternoonhttp://www.bom.gov.au/pr...801/IDT60801.94959.shtml |
