Better day today than yesterday and Friday.
21mm yesterday and only 5mm this morning.
Looks set to continue for the week :(
Scott: Mrs is going to do Nursing, mostly online but lots of unpaid placements doing prac..
Don't think anybody should have to work without pay it just seems wrong..
She is working as an (AIN) Assistant in Nursing now , 3 years or so and she will be an RN.
I run 2 pig traps most of the year and Scout and I look around every morning and a lot of arvos
I'm not into dogging pigs, to much like hard work running around in the bush, but like to sit
and ambush a few in the late arvo as they come out of the forest to feed. Our council has a
pig man that runs traps over the whole shire. He is payed by council and they own a lot of traps
but the rain forest is full of them and as it is NP no hunting or control at all, so have to get
them when they come out..
Yard is looking good still 28 , shame about the willy willys but comes with the environment.
I'm sure your tree line will help a bit with the dust.

Amazed at how green the yard still looks.
Still getting cloudy weather out here. Makes for nice sunsets, but that's about it.
Nice time of year. Not too hot. Trees still reasonably happy.

The murraya is blooming, ants were building volcano style nests -- but nothing has happened.
The yard greened up a bit with that rain a couple weeks ago, but now drying out again.
The white flowered prickley weed is growing happily, and attracting birdlife.

About the only bonus right now is although its like a swamp here at least its not too cold..
I have to head down to western NSW next week so I'm not looking forward to seeing frost for the first time in 15 years..
Finally got out to the reef on Sunday for a perfect day and cooked up a whole wild suckling pig day before yesterday so between that,fish and garden fruit and veges its been a whole week of living off the land....just wish it would dry up so I could get more stuff growing...

It's cold out here today. 11am and I've got on jeans and uggs, 2 layers of fine merino, and a cardigan. Admittedly I've got all the doors wide open... Overcast and dreary and cold, just like a Sydney winter, in appearance. Obviously nowhere near as cold. LOL. Treat yourself to a merino singlet top and a merino tee shirt. They will help you feel nice and cosy down in frosty NSW, and are great in heat as well. I wear mine all year around. Another plus for merino is that you can wear it for days on end, and it doesn't smell. Good for travelling. Make sure it's 100%. Have a great trip. :)

My sister lives in Armidale. I don't visit in winter. It was cold enough in January.

Well I am glad to be back to more humane temperatures.. I saw a couple of sub-0 degree mornings in NSW last week.. My 19 year old boy got to see frost for the first time..the novelty wore off pretty quick though... A firm reminder why I moved the FNQ in the first place... I also left Tully with the wipers on ,travelled 3400kms without needing them then put them back on 5km's south of Tully again..gettin a bit sick of that really.. Whales and mackeral are here but no decent fishing weather any time soon....

How did you manage to leave the state? Did you do quarantine on the way back? I've kind of lost track of what's happening out in the big wide world. Life didn't change for me with the shutdown. Now there's travel inside the state, Chillagoe has become quite busy, lots of campers and 'serious' caravans which is great to see, and a first for quite a number of years.

Glad you had a good run Scott, Was Thinking of you done in the cold.
I went down about 8 years back to drive a cotton picker for a mate, frost every morning for the last 2 weeks of the 5 down there.
Have not been south of Innisfail since lol ...
However it looks like we might head down again soon too see the daughter.
Yeah [censored]season for fishing so far, must be some good stuff coming soon.
Yeah 28 seems to be a bit of tourist traffic getting around again, The free camp at rifle creek (Mt Molloy)was about half full last week..
Don't know where they think they are going or if they are hoping the cape opens. But it must be good for the town.
How is the Mareeba rodeo grounds for travelers?
7mm yesterday and 2 mm this morning :(

Stayed in Cooma couple of years ago, first night was -6.5c. But I grew up down that way so I knew what I was in for. Kids loved it. Scored a dozen or more spotties last Saturday morning Scott, was a bit choppy but good fun, kept 2 for the table, pretty average frozen those things in my opinion. Just had a couple days in Cairns. So nice to be in actual rain.
Apparently Chillagoe had 2mm on Wednesday. Always rains here when I'm somewhere else.

Bunyip that's the first time I have been back down there in Winter for more than 25 years...would highly recommend against it actually... Ambient can enjoy that all for himself.. Did it snow in Cooma, Ron..?...at least that would make the cold worthwhile.... We cut and split a uteload of ironbark for my old mum....it sure was nice to have a fire going through the night to keep the house from freezing.. Looks like we may get a bit of fishing weather next weekend..maybe a bit bumpy but hopefully doable..get the boat ready bunyip..! Ron, last mackie trip was only doggies but we gave some to our pooches and the rest I smoked, then froze....last night the missus made up a pasta with some of that smoked fish in cream sauce with spring onions and snow peas...I have to say it was very delicious..we had a reef trip just over 3 weeks ago and loaded up an esky with frozen trout fillets to take to the family down south so our premo freezer reef fish stocks are low here right now..... 28 I think you have definitely been living out west too long if you call 2mm of precipitation actual rain...
