Howdy. It looks all brand new in here. Thought l might have a go at a weather forum. I have an interest in general science actually. Some background knowledge in mereorology.I don't work in the field anymore but now and again try and keep up my reading.

BOM forecast says a max of 30 deg c today and the next few days. We reached 29.5deg at 1.00pm with a dew point of a low 2.7
The temperature has dropped to 24.4 at 3pm with dew point rising to 12.7 deg c .
Can anyone fill me in on why as temperature has gone down and dew point has gone up?
thanks.

Hi allBigGrin
Max temperature at mid-day today. 30.2 deg c

I had a look at your site today and found something that interested me. The sea temperatures off the coast of Gladstone. About 21deg here.

This BOM graphic shows some interesting eddies .Surface mixing perhaps

I wondered what this graphic will look like in one month? How far the warm stuff comes down south etc.

Thanks for your post satmam. BigGrin I have been listening to the media suggesting fires are ravaging Queensland.
From your picture that is clearly not the case. The adjectives allude to an apocalypse at times
Ravaging parts of QLD perhaps
.
Max temperature at 2 pm today 27.9. An hour later later today.
Temp this morning 6am was 15.4. So that is a climb of about 12.5 deg c

Dew points still very dry a decent minus 7.6 on the coast from an inland SW currently at 3.20pm

Gladstone
Max temperature at 12.00pm with a top of 25.4

Onshore SE E all day and finally some increasing dew points, moisture. 4pm obs for dew point is 13.7

Cooktown dp is up around 17 today so hopefully some moist onshore wet stuff not far away?Bored

Mount Isa hit a top of 29.7 today around 3pm. That daytime max is 3hrs later than at Gladstone.

I gather the sea breeze and possibly afternoon cloud make our max peak much earlier?

The tropical trend only just edging in.

Maxed out to 28 today . A lot later today at 1.30 pm with a N NW . Dew point about 15deg so moisture finally building

Then wind change to NE this afternoon

Lowest dew point l could find out west today was Thargomindah at minus 12.3 in channel country or Birdsville land

Highest dewpoint in the SE l could find was Brisbane airport 16.9 at around 6pm. (possibly after a storm)

Its no surprise the Nth Peninsula scored a 19.5 dew point at Weipa

Hi Pabloaka

Dew points still continue to be low west of the divide in the short time l have been watching

I am not really sure what is the normal rainfall here or even what is normal dew point for this time of the year?.
I might make an effort to investigate this week.

the BOM climate data below l found shows the SE of the state have been doing it much harder in regard to rain deficits.

I might check out what is normal for here in the coming daysBlushing

Reached the max of 28 at 12.10 today.

The forecast looks the same for the next 6days. Between 25and 29,and sunny. Little chance at all for rain so says the forecast

Currently no negative dew points in our region. Capricornia.

A few districts out west still, have negative dew points.
Maranoa, warrego, chanel countryand North west regions .

Highest neg dew point l can find at 12.00pm is Windorah in the channel country at minus 598.
So things have improved moisture wise even in the interior.

Highest dew point l can find at 12pm is 20.9 Innisfail.

This forecast from ACC r should be welcome for some. It is only a weak troughing signal but looks to run from Emerald region in a

NW/SE line to Gympie region.

The picture below is for 1pm and should continue through the afternoon to about 5pm

May be a storm in there?
