No more rain, although the days have been mostly overcast. Sometimes it feels like rain, but nothing near us on the radar. Maybe those scattered showers might reach us in an hour or two, if they don't evaporate over the Featherbeds. .....somewhat later, those scattered showers have just about arrived. But still, no rain yet. Scott, I moved to FNQ for the heat, but quite unexpectedly I recently started to enjoy the cooler weather. We've had 4 or 5 *perfect* Dry Seasons in a row these last few years. They don't last very long, and I breathe a sigh of relief when September arrives and brings a little bit of humidity to dispel the brittleness. Then I have to steel myself for my most unfavourite time of October November December. Love the build-up in Darwin, but it's just plain enervating heat out here. Mobiles are still working - and strangely Telstra has now hooked us up to 5G. Thought they'd leave us til last, like they did hooking us up to 4G. Bit of a waste for most of us, with most people in town buying cheap & 4G only from the post office. I just bought a new 4G hotspot...lol. 4G seems to have slowed down even further. To upgrade to a 5G modem is almost what you'd pay for Starlink equipment. ... Oops. Just found this tab sitting here several hours later. The scattered showers are now all around us. As usual "around" being the operative word. Not a tiny drop of rain. But the temperature and atmosphere is making for a very pleasant day. Edited by user Monday, 1 April 2024 2:59:49 PM(UTC)

April is here again. Probably showery stuff until showtime if all goes to plan. BOM tipping at a trough moving onto the NE coast towards the weekend. Could increase the showers a bit.
Never been through a Darwin build-up myself 28. It must be an exciting time after their long dry.

Like here, not much rain before Christmas day, just the occasional storm. The storms up there are something else, with so many great places to watch them from. So, no rain manifested this afternoon. I wasn't expecting any so I shouldn't complain...lol.

Single digit falls the last couple of days. :( This is the worst rain we get here, days and days of just a few showers, but the ground never gets to dry out. Yeah you can get the lawns done or most of them but the paddocks and everything else just stay soft and soupy. I'll come back with this mornings total after I walk the dog. There was a short shower yesterday afternoon when I was down the street. Don't think we got anything. I've yet to check.

Just 4.5mm in the odd shower coming through here. April showers are right on time. GFS saying not much in the next couple of weeks. We'll have to see what the BOM weak trough brings in the next couple of days.

Sitting at MEL airport, pretty chilly. Driest 2 months on record and we get here and they got 60mm lol.
Back to work then heading north in a week's time from Cairns hopefully dried out a bit by then |

January 2020 it'd been hot here, middle of bushfires everywhere, they kept harping that Melbourne would be 45degrees. That's what I went prepared for. About to land and the pilot announced it was 15degrees. No easy access to warm clothes, spent 3 or 4 hours at Southern Cross station, coldest I'd been in decades.

35mm here as the blob made its way south mostly off the coast last night...
I guess if Ron is heading northward bound then he is making the call that the end of the Wet is upon us...?
we even had some sunshine and humidity this morning though its now patchy cloud but dry..
I also see weatherzone now has an hourly forecast for severel days ahead...thats certainly interesting given that lately the forecasts chop and change significantly on a daily basis..

There's still a chance. The last GFS run yesterday showed nothing, this morning it has a low crossing north of Princess Charlotte Bay into the gulf next weekend. Heavy rain for us. Maybe.

We had 4mm this morning, from the short rain about 9pm last night.
However a friend went out to one of the stations yesterday and still hasn't been able to get back because of the road.

Strange fog this morning. The hill had a haze move in front of it & clouds at the top.
Standing outside I can feel the fog "rain" on me. It's not just a damp light misting fog, it's heavy enough to feel.
Nothing on the radar, nothing in the gauge.

What a cracker of a day yesterday was.. Today looks about the same so i guess its time to drag out the sprayer and mower and begin to tame the jungle and get the vege area ready...my place is as overgrown as its ever been so its going to be quite a job to get it under control again.. How good would it be to have a winter that didnt consist of months of daily drizzle and showers...is it to much to dare to dream..?.. SM I'm taking any week out forecasts of lows or rain with a grain of salt this season...the blobs have been pretty localised and just hard to predict with too much accuracy this year anything more then a day or 2 out...cant really blame the forecasting agancies this season when its been so hit and miss......SST temps remain above 28c so lows or cyclones remain a possibility if the highs allow it....(I love 28's analogy of the highs pushing the lows away..  ..)
