Looks like Paul will fizzle out. Definitely Dry Season weather here for us now. Watering will be a regular occurrence again. At least the grass and the weeds have slowed down a bit. GFS forecasts have been a bit disappointing this week. At least WZ has Cairns down for three 20-40mm days next week.
$40M on that project Scott. If you add that to what's going on with the Daintree to Cape Trib road it's all crazy government stuff. Some British media guy nailed it the other day by saying we're all being run by lunatics.

YTD: 2019.5mm Ahhh, well. Yes, definitely dry season here now. Blue skies not much cloud. Waking to a nippy 22degreesC in the mornings. Already sleeping with the doona on. Actually, the weather is pretty perfect right now. $40M on that project. When the TMR crew/contractors were sealing the road a couple years ago the manager told us they could do the remaining 4km into Almaden for as little as $1M, yes one million dollars only, because the equipment was already here. But TMR refused. So yes, lunatics.

30 mm here with the forecasts downgraded for us south of Cairns...
few showers this morning but the sun has now made an appearance so if yesterday is an indication it might burn off and be a mostly dry day hopefully...
10 day charts show continuing moisture for the week before the trough is displaced by the next high moving across..pretty typical scenario for this time of year really.
25c around midnight last night which felt odd but nice considering past nights had been at 20c or a bit below..

Almost torrential here at the moment Scott. To heavy to check the gauge plus there was just a big clap of thunder outside. Edit at 2330: Easing now. Had about 80mm so far. Cairns seems to have had more. Edited by user Monday, 15 April 2024 11:32:54 PM(UTC)

We got blobbed, got up at 22:30 to check the guage, 74 mm (in about 2 hours) and another 65mm this morning. I see the airport alert has 197mm.

I'm amazed. I watched that storm over Cairns last night. You guys have been under that the whole night...!
Saw it had spread further onto the Tableland and Mareeba around midnight. No rain here. Our power went out around then, and still out at 6.45am.

165.5mm here overnight. Heavy rain off and on all night. It was very unexpected as the BOM forecast for Cairns was 2-15mm. Raining again.

It’s happened again,big difference between the two Cairns airport gauges 153.4 mm and 199mm. Makes you wonder re accuracy of the gauges.

68mm down here... Yeah 28 i was amazed as well....I got up several times to check out 'The blob" on radar..I was wondering if it would head our way.. 114mm in Tully with 196mm in one small area around the Murray river just south of Tully yet north of Tully to Innisfail didnt get much at all... SM all the forecasts backed off significantly over the past couple of days but these unpredictable blob events around Cairns and north just keep coming... BOM just cant get a handle on it this season can they...its quite interesting that they keep getting blindsided over and over again by these quite significant events and they often dont even put out warnings until the events have actually started to unfold. Bunyip I dont suppose I have to ask how those field-planted early-season vege seeds are going....you win some, you lose some when starting the winter veges in FNQ thats for sure we have all been there.. and weary it is quite a significant difference that happens quite regularly doesnt it..? Well good day weather folks :)
I got 175mm yesterday and another 72mm this morning.
I had to go to Kans yesterday and we discussed canceling appointments but decided to just go and have an adventure.
Some of the worst driving conditions as we went down the coast.
@15 :15 I looked at my phone and there was a post saying the ferry would stop at 17:00, I'm at Sushi train on Sheridan st.
flew home and got to the ferry at 16:52 but it was already shut by almost an hour :(
So back into Mossman grab beer and chinese and go visit a mate.
The first ferry north this morning was about 07:00 and we got home on it.
IT has caught me out big time, and I'm yet to learn just how bad as I can't get to where I need to just yet.
Werry I don't doubt the differences between the 2 gauges in Kans, They would be what 15km apart? and the area surrounding each is different.
Yeah Scott, mostly flat and smashed, got a few seedlings left from the first round and have more just put in.
