Partner ju.st came in and said...25mm... he came in around noon saying....90mm. He says for one day though I'm not sure since we no longer keep track but as I go to my weather bookmark on BOM, for Herbert, Johnstone, Baron, Daintree there is nothing remotely close to that for days. It's a mystery

Hi dormant.. I had 9mm this morning around 06:30 and have had more than 50mm since At a guess I'd say close to 80mm
New gauge does not have extra marks on it yet, I will rectify that.

More to come too Bunyip.. We are starting to get fast moving heavy showers down this way after on and off showers all day and last night... Plenty of flash flooding down here around Innisfail..some hail reported earlier at Cowley.. Heard reports of 200mm in an hour and more reliable reports from someone I know of 180mm in 2 hours.. We havent had those really intense scuds yet but with the constant moisture feed coming onto the coast up Cairns way I feel anything could happen tonight if that continues..the creek on the driveway is already impassable.. Also masses of storms moving in from the west..chilligoe even looks to be getting some... Geez I hope it doesnt all come together as a big convergence zone on the coast tonight.. Had a heavy downpour this arvo,I didn't measure but backyard is large pools of water. Been relatively light stuff since then. flashes of lightning about, rain is just starting to pick up again now.

Did a grocery and mail run this morning and glad to get back as soon as possible, the roads ponding a lot behind us, but radar says it all, all gone south to, oh yes, hi there Scott, :))
Really annoying they can't build roads with a crest, the invisible lakes at the sides are lethal at grabbing at tyres.
My sympathies for you lot south, it's taking its sweet time moving on, and partner said couple hours ago he though he saw a distant flash, but he's gettin' on.

How did you go Ron ..a bit of water running around Gordonvale...? And what are you doing driving around in this rubbish for Dormant..?..Good day to stay home curled up with a good book or movie...yes i did watch a couple of dopey movies and did very little else today except cook a roast pork dinner....  I just went and had a look at the creeks which were running really dirty during the day but now they are still up a bit but now running clear... We have been so fortunate not to get the destructive torrential downpours that happened a bit further north and now south as well.. Hopefully thats the worst of it over for us now...I hope the roads arent too chewed up.. Most of the rain seems to be just offshore and then converging on Townsville which is copping a flogging now too.. What a strange weather event.. Seems the bureau were a day out, today was supposed to be the wettest day here but it moved south earlier than expected we have had no rain today. I only ended up with 47mm overnight seems rainfall was highly patchy just 4km from me whyanbeel creek got 106mm, had to go home early from work yesterday as foxton was over so must have been pouring up on the 1300m mountains behind us as it showed on the radar.
Looks like some of the heavy hitters around Innisfail ended up with around 240mm, probably less than expected really. |

Well..... Over 145mm since about 5pm last night. By 1am this morning there was 78mm in the gauge, and another 32 to 8.30am - then looks like there's another 20mm by now. That's about the biggest fall we've had this Wet, except 137mm (neighbours records) early Feb when I was away in Cairns. Biggest fall otherwise was mid January with 52mm. Cold at 23.5 degrees. well that was interesting.
So good you got a nice lot to finish the wet out there 28.
I checked into Kans base tuesday morning for sinus surgery so only had my mobile
to watch on as it all took place, did get a window bed watching over the esplanade
and saw some flashes & plenty of blue & red ones as well.
So much widespread rain over lots of the state, shame it's just a bit too much in
some spots but overall very good to see.

Hi Bunyip. Do you feel heaps better now? Had sinus op 5 years, great to breathe again. How good to get a window and see the storm over the Esplanade.
Another 40mm since yesterday morning. 30 of it by mid afternoon. Just around the hill, but starting to look like another 'good' day. Lol.

Hi 28, Actually still feel like hell, but I'm sure breathing will be great in a day or 2.
Lucky you getting a bit more, was a nice clear day here, think the grass grow 2" while I was napping.

Such exciting times weatherwise... lol. No-one's had anything to say for ten days. I thought my email notifications had failed again. We've just had a moderate quick shower, the bottom end of a blob likely to miss Mount Carbine, but drop water on Mount Molloy in a few minutes time. Quite a surprise, nothing else around at all. Nothing to speak of.  Finish line of the Great Wheelbarrow Race this morning. A good race. Best time 7 hours and 20 minutes - how do they do that...? They raised $105,000+ for various charities.
