79mm here this morning. A nice heavy shower after 8AM topped up the gauge a bit. The wetter spring forecast is looking good, we've had over 3 times the Sept average so far with 162mm. The average for the whole of spring is about 220.

Sept: 162mm
YTD: 2460.5mm

Good totals for you SM..and wow lucky you, I'd love to see a big friendly whale shark out there..!

Hope things get better for you Bunyip...a bit of time up north would be pretty nice I reckon..

we have had 130mm so far this event with some places around Innisfail already up to around the 290-300mm mark...its nice to not have to worry about so much watering, particularly as I have been putting quite few plants into the ground..it seems keeping the weeds at bay may be the main concern...

Think we are around 100mm. Severe weather alert out this morning, hosing down between Deeral and Babinda ATM. Mulgrave river is level with Peets bridge. Crazy stuff.

2024: 1884mm (no records April-Sept)

Holy cow it was a wet night 103mm here.
Reading a few local reports of a fair bit more. Unbelievable to see the creeks full and paddocks flooded in mid September.
And last week they were all starting to get dry with just pools.
Will be interesting to see what late October looks like.

Cheers

Definitely not Sept like weather. 140mm overnight and 219 in the last 2 days. It's still pouring at the moment. We're sitting on 6 times the Sept average and the highest Sept total since 178mm in 2021. Very unusual.

Sept: 302mm

A nice sedate 61mm for us overnight...and 191 so far this event....very very nice rain indeed..I've been out planting this morning as the ground is lovely and soft but not waterlogged yet..

However 379mm for Topaz overnight and 498mm in the past 48 hrs....!!!...A wicked convergence area in red and yellow on the radar was sitting right in there on the ranges behind Babinda from late night till this morning...seems to have extended right along the ranges to the south side of Cairns at SM's place now..crazy rain for you SM and only 63mm at the cairns airport gauge...

I cant remember seeing the likes of it in September before up that way...

Nice to see daintree get some also..I thought they were going to miss out.

Yeah not weather I remember for September..

Reports from upstream (Daintree Village and above) are over 300mm in a couple of gauges
A flood rescue up near the Crab track.
And the ferry may close tonight with the high tide..

Just 26mm in the gauge this morning.
Looks like small stream showers blowing through will be the patten for the next day or so.

The rain has eased to a bit of light drizzle around today. The BOM had the white rock forecast covered yesterday with 0-90mm, we ended up with 35mm this morning.BigGrin It looks like a clearing trend from the weekend by the forecast.

Sept: 337mm
YTD: 2635.5mm

Edit; The wife went for day surgery for a cataract today, the weather was much nicer for that.

hence my scepticism at the BOM crowing about the amazing accuracy of their forecasts....

and today I'm filled up and ready to tackle the weeds and i look up and see a very dark cloud..so back inside to look at the radar and yeah its been on the blink since last night..I can see the Townsville one but thats no good for our area...

The BOM forecast is for "medium chance" of showers for the next couple of days then "slight chance" after that...so does that all mean even if it does rain or it doesnt that they still claim to be totally accurate..?

Should have got the rainfast roundup..

and hope the missus doesnt come down with the measles SM....well done to the anti-vaxxers for that little treat..

Hi Scott, I spent Sunday night in ED in Kans base and most of yesterday, the Measles is all down to backpackers
according to the ambo and a couple of nurses I was talking to, so not our home bred mob of fools.
Also lot's of RSV & covid getting around, I couldn't get out of there quick enough. Glad I came in the back door
and didn't have to sit in the waiting area..
You look at the Ambo's getting along and never give them much thought, I just imagined that they would be very
smooth and quiet, Well, the Mercedes single stretcher have terrible bloody suspension and every bump or pot hole
it felt Cursing and the bigger not sure on the maker but the double bed ones are really loud with road noise,
& the suspension is not really any better, I was very surprised and a little disappointed.
However the crews were bloody fantastic...

I'm fine, just very soar..
I knocked my mower off a couple of jacks trying to fit a new drive belt, it landed on my chest trapping me
under it for about 90 seconds before I somehow managed to get out. I rang the Mrs (in Weipa) after a bit
just to talk to her, I was in shock, she realised and after we spoke she rang the ambo's... I was getting stuff
ready to go back and have another go at it when they showed up LOL
My chest is black and blue, but amazingly nothing was broken, it could of gone way worse.
So men {weather mates) don't do dumb shit, I knew it was a possibility and did it anyway, we are our own worst enemy..

Bloody radar, can't imagine they would let one in Sydney or Melbourne be off line for to long..

Last weeks event was a nice drink for the gardens before October when I expect it to dry out and start getting hot.
Forecast for a few showers in the next couple of days, then a clearing trend.

Cheers

It's good to see you are recovering well Bunyip. Your advice about 'not doing dumb shit' is very good, I've had a couple of painful accidents in my time that could have also been easily avoided. Probably going to the boat ramp bare-footed and opening my foot up on a broken bottle in the water is not a good memory, a bloody and painful one.

The weather has been much drier the last few days here.

1mm here this morning from a couple of light showers yesterday. The forecast is for a fine week ahead.

I checked my September daily figures since 2011 and only 3 days were above 90mm so the 0-90 forecast the other day was a fairly safe bet.

That is had much rain we had so far this in our area's here.

I am looking forward to more rain in our local here Townsville.

No heavy showers or heavy rain for the far north QLD at the moment.

Only little few cells at the moment but there is not much in them at the moment I am tipping little showers.
