I don`t trust this council, Tamworth is currently on Level 5 restrictions with 18,000 megalitres to supply 50,000 people but the are still going ahead with the Country Music Festival which brings in another 50,000 people for 10 days. Guess they can`t go without the $$$$$ it brings in.
On level 3 restrictions we can only use water outdoors(no sprinklers) for 15 minutes per day between 6pm & 8pm(or as many buckets as you can carry in 2 hours). Previously we could use a sprinkler or hose between 6pm & 8am.
Previous to the pipeline being constructed in 2014 we always had a severe lack of water so most of the towns folk are pretty conservative concerning the use of water. |

A high temp of 37 yesterday with an overnight low of 22. At 10:00 am it is already 30 degrees, expecting 39 today & for the next day or so. Humidity is also up at around 50% today with a Northerly at 10 knots.
Don`t mind the high temps but the Humidity does me in! |

Hot day yesterday with a Max of 39.3. A few thunderstorms from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm delivered 5 mm of rain & some small sparse hail. Temp dropped 14 degrees to 25.2 at 4 pm. |

The news said this morning that a record heatwave is approaching SE Aus, so I went out at lunch in the CBD, to 24°C.  Perhaps tomorrow then.

Been away for a few weeks so thought I would catch up with a weather summary for December & a wrap up for 2019.
December Stats
Max Temp - 22nd 42.1 degrees
Min Temp - 3rd 7.3 degrees
Max 9 am - 22nd 33.2 degrees
Min 9 am - 3rd 7.3 degrees
Coldest Day - 2nd 24.2 degrees
24 Hour Rainfall - 12TH 5.0 mm
Total Rainfall 9.2 mm
Mean Rainfall 77.3mm
Mean Max 30.7
2019 35.5
4.8 degrees above average
Mean Min 14.7
2019 16.6
1.9 degrees above average
Rainfall for 2019 was well below the lowest on record(2002 - 337 mm) with only 145.4 mm recorded making 2019 the driest on record. Official records are incomplete for the first 4 months but there was no significant falls in that time.
Also set a new Heat record for December, 2019
Hottest Dec day on record 22nd - 42.1
Previous Record - 41.1
2020 got off to a good start with 13.6 mm on the 1st & 15.2 mm on the 2nd of January from afternoon storms, so we have had 20% of 2019`s rainfall in the first 2 days of 2020. Hope that trend continues!

Looking good for some much needed rain over the next 10 days with predicted falls of up to 100 mm. Image below is a forecast model(ECMWF) from windy.com. The marker is positioned over the head of the major catchment area for our town water supply.
 I might be a bit optimistic but I have cleaned the gutters, moved objects to higher ground & put new wiper blades on the car!  |

28.8 mm in the gauge to 9 am this morning  . Higher falls to the north & south of town(as usual). Few of the creeks were running a banker yesterday arvo, a good sign for the towns water supply. |

Over 60 mm recorded for the last rain event & just on 92 mm for the year so far(142 mm total for 2019). The local water supply had an inflow of 320 megalitres & has risen back up to 1% of capacity.
Looking a lot greener around the district & farm dams have some water in them. Forecast looking good for some more rain in the coming week. Long way to go, but a good start to 2020 |

Good to see some widespread rain over much of eastern NSW over the last few weeks. I have recorded 190 mm so far this year, 102 mm for January & 88 mm so far for Feb, both well above average.
Total rainfall for 2019 was 147 mm.
Raining as I write this post as it has done on & off for the past 8 days. Local water storage is rising with around 2200 megalitres of inflow a day. Grass is growing & the temps have been nice & cool for the past 2 weeks.
Things are looking up
This is the first time in over 3 years this waterfall near home has had water going over it. Taken 12-02-20 |
