Terrible cold snap in Texas which is expected to move eastward Haven’t had time to investigate records but certainly must be right up there. I suppose this is a post polar vortex split event? Texas can get to 38 deg c in summer so this is quite a contrast Minus 18 deg c without power and broken frozen water pipes. Food shortage and lack of heat Deaths from carbon monoxide inhalation from indoor generator fumes. Wondering if Australia will have a bumper snow year🤩 Link to a photo gallery of Texas event https://www.9news.com.au...6-4918-87f7-718368646581Cheers

Found outstanding dialogue of the mechanics of the record cold snap in Texas. The incursion of the cold pool that far south was considered record breaking. The sudden stratospheric warming event in the stratosphere being touted as the cause. The possible link to climate change being a cause suggests there will be more of this. No mention of an extended solar minimum of course😜 Well worth a read. Dig in https://www.cbsnews.com/...nter-storms-arctic-cold/
