Thought I'd give a new thread a go.
I finally measured the gauge, 8mm from a while ago, and two little frogs. |
Dodgy records for 2022: 1520mm
2023: 2710mm 2024: 951.6mm
Jan 24: 449.6mm
Feb 24: 350mm
Mar 24: 152mm |

9 weeks without radar to look at every morning is going to be a hard habit to break...
Hard to believe it takes 9 weeks to upgrade a radar site.

13mm up here from showers most of the night.
Yeah still clicking on the radar link on my page out of habit ..
Don't need this, got dogs to trap and it's hard with wet ground.

Thanks Bunyip. This used to happen to me all the time on WZ. Someone would start a new thread, but never made a last post linking to the new one.... I'd go for days before I realised. I'm one of these people who rely on email notifications. Great idea Ronfishes. I went away for a week - to Cairns and Cooktown. Nice weather. Back in Chillagoe it had changed. Jolted into the Dry Season with 17°C yesterday morning, cold winds, everything dried out, and dust starting up already. Any water in seasonal creeks has disappeared, and the colour of the grass is fading rapidly. Last Dry was pretty close to perfect all the way through. Comfortable cooler temps day & night. Thanks Ron & Bunyip, takes me a while to wake up sometimes. 10mm here this morning and still raining. Some showers quite heavy with 21C, feels very cool. A bit lost without the radar as well.

Since we haven't got radar - here's what the clouds look like at Chillagoe, taken just now. (Then resized in the hope the pic won't take everyone off the page.) **Almost** feels like rain, but not quite.   Now the sun is trying to peep through. EDIT: Sun still keeps trying to peep through, breeze comes up, and then it goes cold again. Clouds scooting across the sky at a fair speed. Definitely 7.99/8ths cloud. Nice photos 28. Fairly dark those clouds. 30mm here over the last 2 days. The forecast was for less than 10 so not to bad. Still light showers around this morning and a bit windy.

Ah you are a bit of a trickster Ron...  I thought it was rather quiet in here.. Anyway what a horrendous morning..felt a bit frosty so had to put my start time back to 9am today... Typical Tradewinds set in ..we got out a week ago to the Mackeral grounds out of desperation ..Just one doggie mack hooked and pretty lumpy out there but nonetheless any day on the water is a good one.. We were forced into river croc spotting this weekend past though...a few sub 1m models getting about...more then I have seen before... Anyway planning to spend the day turning over the vege garden and adding some ash to get started and yeah the radar thing makes it a bit hard to plan though we are fortunate that at least the Townsville one gives us and idea of whats coming our way.. Bunyip, are they Dingo or wild dog mix..we hear them howling in the hills behind us at times though rarely see them although the Vet next door said she saw a black one crossing the road recently...

You aren't the only one. I woke this morning to a freezing 15°C. 🥶 It's still only 26 inside. Not exactly hot. Think this might be a cold Dry for us out here. Last Dry Season was pretty close to perfect. A few more like that would be nice.

Mostly dingo , but anything that is chewing on cattle is fair game. Mackies should be around soon. I'm hoping to get a few this year before they put a new hip in me. They say rain coming today, but radar's will be no help. Cheers |

A few drops of rain on the windscreen today. Nothing in the gauge this morning though. 54.5mm for the month which is about half the average of 101mm for here.
I haven't got a boat at the moment so won't be chasing any mackerel this year which is a shame.

Thought our 9 week outage of radar was bad enough. Checking around other radars that are out -- Mackay is out until 20 December 2023. That's almost 6 months with no radar. http://www.bom.gov.au/pr...s/IDR223.loop.shtml#skipMount Isa and Townsville are both out since yesterday, with unknown duration - however, they're working to get them back up.
