I even contemplated driving to Victoria when they had those terrible fires... I lost my touch when I moved out here. 😭

So a fairly wet day and night up here with good stream showers giving 75mm in the gauge this morning.
Looks to continue into the weekend.
Yeah it is a strange old season Hickory, but I still have the fan on, just added a cotton blanket.

Had some really strange blustery monsoonal type wind, without the monsoon. Just plain weird, and spooky type of wind. Then there was a big dark cloud moved over. Tried desperately hard to rain, while I was watering the garden. I didn't even get wet, but it managed to put one whole millimetre (1mm) in the little old nylex. And then, there was a pretty nice rainbow (about 20 past 6).

That's a nice drop. It would be lovely to get a couple more falls before season end. Drying out here. Grass is going yellow. Yard mowed yesterday. Might not have to mow it again til next January...

Yeah beaut photo 28 and look at that green lawn..! Holy crap...!.. has the whole world has gone mad...the virus thing is bad enough but now dunny paper wars... Totally pissed off today as the dunny paper was all gone in the IGA again...Then I saw some fuckwit with a cart full to the brim with hand sanitizers, baby wipes, soaps, everything that people need... [censored]ME!, I thought, and did I give it to him. He looked like he was going to cry.... After I calmed down a little, I gave him the low down about the elderly and moms with kids, etc, who need these types of things. Told him he should be Fkn ashamed of himself and just take what he needs or I'd be looking for him outside in the carpark.. All he had to say back was, okay, sorry about everything, but I work here, can I get back filling the shelves now?”... And with a trough approaching the coast it looks like Ingham, Tully and Daintree in particular are in for some decent rain over the weekend...still praying for a creek flush out but not really expecting it....

Did you really give it to that guy Scott? Was he really stacking shelves? LOL.
The grass still looks reasonably green, but it's fading fast. Almost got an actual "lawn" these days.
It didn't get mowed the month I was away, and the couch and paspalum really took off and grew high. There's a white flowered prickly weed that grows out here, radiating out for almost metres. It thankfully didn't seem to get a go on this time. Maybe a good excuse for not cutting the grass next year?? I'm loathe to use chemicals on it, because so many birds love feeding amongst it, even if I don't like it. So I leave it year after year.
Nice coolish grey overcast day today. Slight breeze. 32 degrees & 40% humidity outside, 30 degrees & 34% humidity inside. Perfect weather, really.

They are talking up this system..
Just have to wait it out and see.
Sound lovely @28 , will have to come out for a drive again one day , been years since we were out there.
Got a mate works out there, been going out for a look around for ages ,lol just never get around to it.

Floods sound great. Hopefully we get a few decent showers in Chillagoe next week. I'll be in Cairns all week and won't have to harass people to water my plants. I was fortunate to have someone not look what they're doing when they backed out of a parking spot about 3 weeks ago. Into my newly aquired old Camry. Luckily it was only the door, not the bodywork. Luckily I was in the right and covered by my insurance, with no excess. Also after years of paying for RACQ Ultimate membership, I get accommodation paid for the week (value of 2 years fees). So getting an unexpected "holiday" in Cairns. Now I just wish I had the money to spend in all the local businesses down there. Edit: 6.30pm and we've had sort-of-mizzle for the last hour or so. Getting a bit chilly. Nice and damp though, and didn't have to water the plants this time. One whole millimetre in the gauge (1mm), so there's a good chance we might get about 3mm out of this. Just jokes 28...I don't care whats in there trolley as long as they are not breathing and coughing on me...lol...we are staying away from supermarkets from now on...people and backpackers in Tully are just acting like nothing is wrong..no social distancing at all...it freaks me out.. Btw did the person who hit your car just drive off...? Floods huh..?...I'm just not that confident of BOMs forecasts recently...believe it when I see it... Floods huh..?...I'm just not that confident of BOMs forecasts recently...believe it when I see it... I'm terrible, can never recognise whether people are joking or serious. I live such an isolated life out here, with a few exceptions, a whole week in Cairns will be weird. No, the guy didn't drive off, he couldn't get out of the parking space and get past me, which is why he hit me. Had my hand on the horn too, but he kept on coming. I had my car running but couldn't move forward as there was a fence and canal right in front of me. I probably shouldn't have been stopped there, but also, he should have looked in every direction. I felt a bit sorry for him actually.

Well only 14mm this morning when I took the dog for her run , but it is coming down pretty hard now.
Still don't see floods from just a little trough from the south east . but see what the day brings..
Bugga about your car 28 but at least insurance will pick up the tab.. Though I don't think I would
want to spend a week in Cairns just at the mo.

Yes, not the keenest on spending a whole week in Cairns right now. At least insurance is paying for a nicer cabin than I usually pay for so it'll be nice to stay in. Take some books to read, and my laptop & binge watch iView.
I'm just glad I was able to change it to this coming week, instead the next. Hope they don't lock down Cairns while I'm there.

0.4mm. Absolute epic fail that forecast.
The centralization of the BoM has really been to the detriment of our forecasts I reckon. Typical cost cutting crap. |
