I only managed to pick up 35mm from yesterday's activity. Can't belive Low Isle got 98mm

I was in Tolga/ sitting up on Bones Knob and was watching a storm down over Milla when I thought I should check the radar and saw that we were getting a good storm at home and Cairns a bit later.

It's a funny old wet this year.

Cheers

It sure is. It was 2 weeks after Christmas before we got any rain. Had 2 or 3 good falls before I went away....and only about 3 falls in the 2 weeks I've been back.

So we've barely had a Wet.

Storm slowly moving North this arvo

See the Cape is without phone and Internet from a broken cable at Davies Creek last night.
Was there a real flush there last night or some other cause?

Not sure what is going on @28 , a few blokes here are saying it will be a real wet March , but I am not seeing it at the mo.
We have had floods in April as well so still a couple of months to get some decent rain days.

Cheers

Anyone know when the MT trough is making a come back with something decent? Can't bear another week of hit and miss storms (mostly miss).

Hit and miss storms are the only way we've had rain in the last at least 8 years.

This afternoon we had a very good one actually hit us. 37mm in half an hour. The storm lasted for about an hour I guess. Lots of good lightning and wonder ful crack of thunder, and those crackling rolls.

What a relief.

And another good storm tonight. Started raining at 7.30 for about 50 minutes -- and there is 50mm in the gauge. That's just the first cell, looks like a bigger one following soon, but maybe not such heavy rain.

50mm is a very good result for one storm out here. Hasn't happened much in recent years.

Glad your getting a bit of action @28 ,
That storm Friday arvo slipped behind us and we got about 4 large spots.
Had a very heavy shower around 23:30 last night but only 5mm in it.

No sign of any monsoon this week DU , Just another week of hot days :(

Cheers

Thanks Bunyip. It's great.

Did I say we'd get not as heavy rain from the cell following? A whole 2 (two) millimetres...

Total 52mm.

Just saw two dragonflies...traditionally that signals the end of the wet season...

Seems like the south will steal all our rain again in the coming days!

Yep, reckon so. Even ex-Esther is giving everyone rain but us. And she started just up the road...

I know the dragonflies are the signal of the dry season in Darwin. Is that the case over here too. Nobody I've asked could ever tell me. Then again, out here you blink and you've missed the wet season, especially last couple years. Might as well call it a 12 month dry season, with occasional rain. As it is, except for when ex-Esther was near all our rain has been from storms.

No rain since last Saturday evening's 52mm. One consolation I don't need to get the mowing guys back too soon.

Hi YS and Coldront.

Be good to get this FNQ section going. Maybe then the rest will pick up, and we'll be able to find each other again.

My head was getting addled reading several forums - never knew where is was... 🙄

I guess we need actual weather to talk about.

G'day YS and CF. Wondering is HF around anywhere?

We ended up with 102.4mm from the storm on 27th of Feb, that ended a 7 day run of recordings. Ended up with 346.8mm for Feb. Haven't had a drop since. Should change soon with the MT potentially appearing next week with an embedded low possibly to start off in the gulf and head east and maybe south? Lets hope so. Working down near Bellenden Kerr atm and 'ol mate has been running his sprinklers off the bore last few days.
