I was watching the CNS radar archives from 15:00 to 18:00h, and saw how much you missed.
So much went by you to the east and S/E,- at what looked to be no more than half a km.

Would have given your yard a bit of a drink. Fingers crossed,- temps at 30°C or so may bring some more.

We could see it.

We could smell it...!

I stood out on the road, hoping for more. Didn't even get a close lighting strike.

Looked at the gauge this morning expecting nothing. For a moment it looked like 20mm & I hadn't even heard it - but it was just the shadow of the black holder. And the inside was bone dry. 😭 More water in this emoji than yesterday.

I've never seen my neighbour's mock orange bushes so laden with flowers. Covered. Reckon nature's got it wrong again.

Still, it made for some beautiful skies.

Yep. Missed us. Doesn't look like we'll get any this evening either. All that mock orange is going to be mighty disappointed. Can't believe how much is blooming right now.

Looks like Almaden might just get a short dumping. Don't think that blob south of Petford will make it out this far.

Yes, out here too.

This time last year it was getting pretty cool. The last week, or the second last week, was effectively our winter, at the end of the southern autumn, lol.

Will we get a sudden cold snap, or will it be a warm winter.

How odd,- Just yesterday morning, when I changed the sheets, I put the electric blanket on the bed, in anticipation of the bigger highs bringing southerlies,- clear skies & colder nights.

Best $45 I've spent for the last couple of winters. Must be be something to do with being an old fart, and feeling the cold more so. Blushing

I bought a few items of merino clothing during covid sales last year. I now have enough to survive a winter at my sister's in Armidale if I ever got stuck there - a distinct possibility these days.

The joy of good quality merino is that you can wear it in hot weather. It doesn't smell. And you can wash it in the washing machine.

I have a friend living in Warrnambool, who hates the weather. Earlier today I was thinking I could cope with a house swap over winter, but somehow, I think not...

:) :) Electric blankets your a funny fella Hickory
I could understand up the hill or out where 28 is but on the beach, really...

We have always slept with a window open even when we lived in the Blue Mountains in full on winter,
good doona or 2 and can sleep like a baby. Never slept with an electric blanket on, have used them to
warm the bed before going to bed, but turned off when get in.

I brought Merino thermals before we went to Japan in 2018, never wore them :) climbed up to see the
snow monkeys and wore thongs the whole time, got lots of strange looks but it was not That cold, just
a bit of snow and slush. The coldest day was down south of Kobe it was blowing 40knt and ice in the wind.

I'm not a fan of the below 20° mornings, but they are good sleeping nights, cuddled up with the dog.

Few showers overnight gives me 7mm in the gauge this morning. :)

Cheers

Lol Bunyip. You're lucky. I feel the cold anywhere. There's only a couple months where I don't have a couple blankets or doona.

Remember years ago, moving to Innisfail after several years in Darwin - had to go buy blankets and PJs. In February.

Well the stream showers have set in with these high winds.

7mm , 10mm , and 13mm the last few days.

No sigh of a break in it, but at least it's not cold, nights back up over 20°

Cheers

Our mornings suddenly got nippier.

No idea what outside temps are. My $20 Bunnings weather station eats batteries for breakfast. So I now don't feed it.

Still nice days.

Mareeba this morning was overcast, and felt like rain, which it eventually did. Just lightly.

Sort of overcast-ish back home.

Oops - almost lost power there for a moment.

No weather near us that could affect the power. Maybe someone hit a pole, hope not.
Anything momentous happen at 6.30pm?

Otherwise glorious days, cool nights, and lovely crisp mornings.

Just a dull oppressive day at Chillagoe. On one hand it's depressing, on the other it keeps things cool & slows evaporation.
But I'm on the way to Cairns, hoping I'll get wet at some stage...lol.

Well it was nice to see the sun out and shining strong today, but it seems as that is about it.
Showers are returning, with the first little scud blowing through.

Yeah Weary looks like one of those years

Cheers

Alternating sun and overcast. Looks & feels like rain, but of course it doesn't, because it doesn't.
Had the yard mowed yesterday. Won't need to do it til January... LOL.

Gday guys Im a self confessed weather junkie and dont do facebook so was glad to come across this forum with what looks to be felow weather junkies. I live in the bamboo valley between mossman and daintree, looks like we have a few locals on here.

Was a pretty good wet season at my place we have had YTD 2350mm up to the end of may. Locally across the official BOM stations rainfall has been a bit hit and miss with some stations above average and some below. Compared to cairns and the tully/ingham areas which are well above average.

Some data for local stations to the end of may

Whyanbeel valley sitting on 2153mm right on average
Daintree Village 1913mm 220mm down on average
Mossman Mill 2073mm up 280mm on average
and Cape tribulation with a whopping 3466mm (up until the end of April!!!! May data not in yet) up 850mm on average.

Nice to see some clear sunny days coming up, my yard needs a break already had 27mm first 2 days of june.
